Remarkable Men – Soulful Sunday Sessions
April 10, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm GMT+0100
Building Resilience in Difficult Times.
This Sunday we will meet in person meeting in Bonnington Square.
In the past month our world has shifted.
Our hopes were rising, the possibility of an emergence from the restrictions of the pandemic.
Then war, stark images, constant reporting of suffering. We choose to watch or not to, always knowing it is there, happening, much closer to us than is comfortable.
What do we do when we see this suffering? We offer help when we can in any way we can for those in the midst of something that they have not chosen. Our hearts open for their pain.
In these challenging times we also experience our own suffering: helplessness, powerlessness, guilt, grief, loss, anger, despair, confusion.
It can feel indulgent, perhaps selfish to think about focussing on our own struggles and yet, seeing images, reading about what is happening, difficult emotions arise, whether we want them or not.
If we are not able to take care of our own emotional well being, to care for ourselves with kindness and compassion, to meet emotions as they arise and to build the resilience to be with what is hard, it becomes more and more challenging to be there for others.
This Sunday will be a space for
: sharing our struggle (Covid, post covid, rising costs of living, the war in Ukraine to name but a few), and acknowledging how challenging it is
: recognising our common humanity (one of the steps of self compassion)
: ways to respond to take care of our own needs for kindness, support and connection
I hope that you can join me for this important support for yourself.
Remarkable Men is a facilitated space where a rich, diverse range of Gay men meet to explore a topic that impacts our lives.
Do you want to start Sundays feeling revived + invigorated?
Do you crave a more interesting type of conversation?
Do you want to connect in an open and non judgemental environment?
Do you want to deepen your understanding of yourself?
Certified Life Coach Darren Brady ( Co founder of The Quest for Gay Men) and Courage Coach, Jonathan Ward are both certified to deliver the programs of Dr Brené Brown and will guide the group in some fascinating conversations.
Now in its 6th amazing year, this Sunday ‘drop in’ group lifts the spirit, emboldens and helps connect Gay men.
Who is it for: Anyone who is curious, open and committed to their self development is welcome to try out this group.
What to bring: Curiosity, life experience, openness, honesty and warmth!
Frequency: The group will now be meeting twice a month on the 2nd and 4th (5th?) Sunday of each month.
The 2nd Sunday of each month will be a “flexi-meet”. It may be in person in a venue, on line, a hybrid meeting or a walk-and-talk meeting in a park. This might be a coaching circle or a co-facilitated space (with Jonathan Ward).
The fourth (sometimes the 5th Sunday of the month) will be a Zoom call facilitated by Jonathan Ward.
Beginning in September 2021, this will focus for the next 12 months on “The Artists Way” by Julia Cameron, working through the 12 chapters, one each month. You do not need to attend them all to get the benefit of attending one. You can drop in as you feel, although they do build incrementally from one to the next.
